Situated prominently on Pennsylvania Avenue in the nation’s capital, the new Newseum stands as a bold icon not only for the city but also for the American people and, indeed, the entire world. Conceived as an architectural expression of the First Amendment and a free press, the building was realized by means of an unusually complex structural scheme that evolved from thoughtful dialogue between the architects and the engineers.
