ABSTRACT ONLY:
An innovative intake structure on the American River ensures a permanent water supply for local communities and has made it possible to restore a previously dewatered stretch of the river. The design of the intake structure had to address challenges related to sediment management, environmental concerns, and low flows while also facilitating the passage of fish and boats.
