ABSTRACT ONLY:
The construction of a hospital in southern Indiana was complicated by the presence of several sinkholes and other related features common in regions with karst geology. The need to use some of the features for drainage necessitated the design of stable structures capable of conveying storm-water runoff belowground without erosion.
