A More Direct Route


ABSTRACT ONLY:

Throughout the United States, the airways are every bit as congested as the roadways and the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating options for alleviating the problem while planning for even more growth in the future. One possible option uses the Global Positioning System to enable pilots to operate within a smaller navigational field, thus increasing the number of concurrent flights possible—and saving fuel and costs in the process.
