The ASCE Board Publications Committee has established the following policy on secretarial assistance to journal editors.
- Financial assistance is available to ASCE journal editors for necessary secretarial help where such help is not provided by the editor's employer.
- The maximum amount of financial assistance to be made available to a journal will be established by the ASCE Board Publications Committee based on such factors as the annual page budget, number of papers submitted, number of papers published.
- An invoice, including hourly rate for actual secretarial work performed, needs to be provided by the journal editor to ASCE for reimbursement. The invoice should originate from the secretary or his/her employer, such as a university or company.
- Journal editors may receive assistance by presenting a request to the ASCE Board Publications Committee clearly stating that such help is currently not available and that the help requested is necessary in the editing of the Journal. Editors should request only what is necessary, recognizing that such financial support to the editor may result in an increase in the journal price.
- Requests for financial assistance for editors must be made annually to the ASCE Board Publications Committee.
