As the editor of an ASCE book or CD-ROM, you are the vital nexus between your committee or contributing authors and Publications staff. Yours will be the last technical eyes to review the content and presentation of your publication, and ASCE relies on your professional engineering expertise to ensure the quality of your book.
As the editor of a conference proceedings, committee report, or TCLEE monograph, you are responsible for organizing content and delivering in a timely way materials and forms to meet essential publication criteria. As the editor of a manual or standard, you will have additional responsibilities during the production of your book.
All editors should keep the following points in mind:
- Communicate frequently with the staff at your Institute or Technical Activities Division to keep them informed of your progress and estimated completion date.
- Communicate with your Publications staff contact early in the process, to ensure that you have the best instructions for preparing your manuscript.
- After you have turned over your materials, be prepared to consult with Publications staff promptly over any issues that may arise.
